Henry O. Rogers papers, 1894-1899.

The papers document the unsuccessful prospecting of Henry Rogers and associates in the region of Mary Island. Roger's diary and letters to his mother and sister describe the movements of the group from June 1898 to January 1899, when the group seems to have dissolved. Latter letters and diary entries record Rogers's efforts to find work, including running a sawmill near Juneau. Letters to Rogers from his colleagues discuss preparations for the trip. The records of the Boston (later Bay State) and Alaska Gold Mining Company are fragmentary, consisting primarily of receipts for goods. Two maps of southeastern Alaska contain annotations showing Rogers's movements.
